Blockchain is a distributed database technology that could make transactions more transparent and secure. It is perceived as disruptive to the financial services industry, but its potential is much broader. Think about shared patient records in healthcare, or new approaches to inventory and supply-chain management across multiple sectors.

Who is investing the most? Capital markets, asset management firms, and commercial banks. Hospitality and leisure companies, which include those in gaming and sports, are also some of today’s top investors.

What are blockchain investors focusing on? Customer experience is a top digital initiative for these firms during the next three years.

What value do blockchain investors expect? Not enough relevant data are available to make definitive assumptions about value, but blockchain is expected to reduce risk, fraud, and costs for transactions and record-keeping.
